MMH5.5 - Heroes of Might and Magic 5.5

Question: How do you obtain special skills now? For example, in the original game, you had to level up 3 skills in a specific way to acquire them, but how is it done now? Or were the unique, powerful hero skills removed in this mod?
I installed this mod to prevent the game from crashing when loading saves. And yes, it doesn't crash anymore. Also, the AI opponent moves significantly faster. But what happened to the skills???
