Upon spotting the lion, the wild boar charged straight at it, but stopped abruptly at the last moment. It seems he wasn't that stupid and had enough brains, or simply observational skills, to notice the trap.
The lion notices that the boar looks somewhat unusual. In some places, the fur was missing, revealing decaying flesh, and some kind of liquid, not resembling saliva, was flowing from the boar's mouth.
