- At the senator's estate. I think I mentioned it. Someone sent this ring to his daughter, along with a short note. The note said, "Sweet dreams," and nothing else. As you can imagine, after that, complete chaos began in the estate. They were only saved because someone close to the senator sensed something was wrong and enlisted the help of mercenaries, including myself. Do I need to say that after what they went through, the senator didn't object to my suggestion to hand over the ring here?

Lavala burst out laughing.
- Ha-ha-ha-ha! Funny story. Good thing the senator survived. He's one of the few sane politicians in our country. And you know, making such a ring is not easy. Even our chief jeweler, Fesbur (a mage-jeweler from the Society of Mages, whom Cenira knows well), would have to work hard to create something like this.
Lavala grabbed Cenira's hand and held the ring against her palm.
- Can you feel the magic in it? It's not like ours. There's definitely some structuralist magic involved. I hope you're not one of those idiots who doesn't believe in their existence? Otherwise, my opinion of you will drop even lower.
