I don't sign up for these tournaments because of the timer; it's unlikely that any of the newcomers will even manage 16+8+2. Players like Lizard should probably demonstrate high-quality (not perfect, but high-quality) gameplay with such a timer, but everyone has family obligations, and reducing the timer is simply incompatible with family life.
