"Alright," Leroy whispered. "There are three of them: two dogs and something else. I'll need help. To avoid opening the doors completely, I'll break through the wall, creating an opening just large enough for me to pass through, and then I'll close it behind me. You'll stand outside, holding your pitchforks. If I realize I can't handle it, you'll quickly lower your pitchforks for a moment and then raise them again, trapping the demons inside. Agreed?"
The other peasants also tensed up.
"We'll do everything you say!" the girl replied.
"Gira, maybe you should go home?" one of the guys said.
"No, I'll stay here and help defend our village from these creatures!"
"Defend the mayor's barn," another guy muttered.
"If they break out of the barn, they'll eat us too, you idiot. So, we're defending ourselves first and foremost," the third guy said.
"Okay, okay, I'm not going to run away with my tail between my legs."
"Then we'll do what the knight says."
The peasants agreed to Leroy's plan. Meanwhile, the elder moved further away and hid behind a tree.
