Unfortunately, no – I’ve already finished the campaign. However, it’s worth noting that this was the only “documented” battle; I don’t know how it went in the others, as they were completed on auto-battle without any losses.

Wouldn’t you have run to hide behind a chair with the old system?

If I understand the current mechanics correctly, the enemy can complete the research you started in your castle, and it won’t cost them anything, after which you’ll have to wipe away your tears and start the research in another city, even if the old one had already defended itself. And that takes time and incurs additional costs.
