And what's the point of using only the first ones? The situation will be the same. I'd rather run around with an army from a single castle (well, maybe I'll add some angels if I find their dwelling).

Here's my reasoning.
If, during combat, two groups of units have been reduced to almost nothing, meaning they've been thinned out, and the opponent has secondary units and/or castles to replenish their army, then the question arises: what should be used to replenish the army?
