Light or Darkness?

Choosing one side or another is purely a matter of ethics. In my opinion, after Lukyanenko's "Night Watch," darkness seems more appealing and familiar, and their spells are more combat-oriented. And light is mainly about creation.
I don't like the seventh installment because of the forced choice between sides. In the eighth part, the problem of choice is not so noticeable.
