I think the "buy/don't buy," "subscription/one-time purchase" decision will only become clear after the test. If only a limited number of players buy it, what's the point of such an Online mode? Playing only in your own sandbox, among those who can afford it? But if there's a trial month, for example, you can see if it's engaging or not, and the "buy/don't buy" question will resolve itself, regardless of the price or subscription/one-time purchase option.
