Shortly before the main event was due to begin, Marquis Seymour himself arrived at the imperial palace. He was dressed in a luxurious business suit, which gave him a more dignified appearance. The Marquis apologized for being late, introduced himself to a couple of familiar faces, and approached Elrine's husband.
"You were almost late," Elrine reminded him. "I was starting to think you wouldn't come."
"I arrived just in time," the Marquis replied calmly. "Besides, declining an invitation from the Empress herself would be reckless, even for me. So, when does it start?"
"Very soon. Almost everyone is here."
"That's good. It's a shame there are so few people here that I know. No one to have a drink with or play a game. I hope it doesn't take too long. I had some plans for the evening."
"Thank you for coming," Elrine said with a grateful smile. "I'm very glad."

At that moment, she finally decided to have a serious conversation with Seymour after the main event. For now, all that remained was to wait for it to begin.
