Elrine became interested in chatting with Countess Alice Lit. She had heard about her before, but hadn't had the opportunity to talk until now. She also told her that she had been fascinated by ethereal weapon shooting since childhood and perhaps she could teach her a few lessons in this craft.

As it turned out during the conversation, Alice Lit did not like staying in her homeland and preferred to spend time in the capital – the County of Blood Lake was distinguished by its dampness, almost permanent fog, and frequent atmospheric precipitation. There were very few inhabitants there too, and despite the considerable expanse, there were even fewer residents than in small baronies. According to her, the previous Count of Blood Lake, her father, renounced the title in her favor and moved south to live in Ehren, where he spends all day in the company of easily accessible commoners, either entertaining himself with gambling or relaxing on a private beach. To Elrine’s possible surprise, Alice Lit spoke about this very openly and did not hide her attitude towards it. In general, she seemed like a very open and independent person, despite her position. Due to such behavior, she had an equal number of friends and ill-wishers – if for one reason or another she pleased the former, then the latter treated her poorly because of her "unacceptable for an aristocrat" behavior.
There was still plenty of time before the start of the main event, so Alice Lit and Elrine went to the shooting range. There, Alice Lit, being an instructor in ethereal weapons, showed Elrine several useful tricks and gave her one of her revolvers as a sign of friendship.
