I would recommend getting acquainted with the concept of power.

Let's assume.
Power is a quantity with a very specific physical meaning (work done per unit of time).
At the same time, the work of different forces manifests and is evaluated differently. Let's compare the steady pounding of a pneumatic hammer with the dull roar of a diesel engine. And then compare both of them with the even hum of a computer with comparable (well, let's assume) power.
Still, it's like comparing apples and oranges...
