There's another exotic option: go to the Data folder and delete all unnecessary patches; luckily, they are labeled, so you won't make a mistake. By the way, I wouldn't mind a mod for a mount.

No, because simply deleting the .pak files (which are part of the patch; besides these files, the functionality of the patches is also written in the .exe file) will not lead to anything good – the game will simply break!
