De facto, he was the main character. The second one was just there to enrich the story and add another 5-7 hours of gameplay.
Considering that the game's storyline takes about 15 hours, that's not a small amount. Especially since you also have to deal with Moira. By the way, her minions and locations are also better. The game is terribly short and is stretched out solely due to the completely unnecessary open world. The first part was better in this regard. And the plot was more interesting than the dreary drama of the dreary Sebastian. It would have been better if they had made Joseph, Kidman, or Moira the protagonist, at least. It's a pity that he didn't offer to sacrifice himself in the finale. He didn't even mention such an option, what a jerk. They'll probably even decide to make him the protagonist of the third part. But I'll hope that the protagonist's role will be passed on to Kidman or, at worst, to a grown-up Lily.
