Now is the perfect time to ask – was it possible to “safely” navigate the traps in that room? What would the king and the dragon do (if the answer was given before, I forgot)? What would happen if you passed the third and fourth traps, would it be pointless? What was the fight with the Emperor like?

It wasn't completely safe, but it was possible to pass without any deaths. The king would randomly reduce half of the skills. The dragon was activated as follows: you had to put your hand inside its mouth, feel for a handle, and turn it. After that, sharp needles from the holes where Tristan's teeth were being inserted would pierce your hand. This would reset the most developed stat of the character. Additional traps after passing the first two were pointless and would be a waste of resources. The fight with Reisen was like PTSD from Faragar.
