I remember in school, during a psychology lesson, we had a test where we answered questions, calculated a point on a coordinate plane, and determined our temperament type based on which quadrant it fell into. Theoretically, it could also be right in the center of the coordinates – this meant that a person had all four temperament types equally present. The quadrants, as I remember, were adjacent: melancholic and choleric, choleric and sanguine, sanguine and phlegmatic, and phlegmatic and melancholic. However, the melancholic and sanguine, and choleric and phlegmatic quadrants were only adjacent at the origin (in our case, it was the number 12). From this, we can conclude that opposite temperaments are choleric and phlegmatic, and melancholic and sanguine. My point, by the way, turned out to be deep in the melancholic quadrant. I also remember one question from that test: "Would you be able to cut a live bird?"
