Well, what's wrong? They seemed like quite charming and trustworthy guys to me.
I don't like them either. But the point is that they may not be an immediate threat to us. Perhaps they are really friendly (although suspicious) guys who might even share some provisions. It's not for nothing that Revan gave us so little water. There must be a way to replenish it. Besides, they didn't rush to attack, even though we were right under their noses. Perhaps they also didn't want to take risks. But, with the same success, this method may involve saving the village from these bandits/clearing it out. And I'm leaning towards the second option.
