(specified at the end).

When I was younger, I really loved playing Heroes 5 (Heroes of Might and Magic 5). I downloaded all the patches, mods, and expansions that came out. My friend, who lived next door, also played this game, and one day he called me and said that he had found a new mod for the Overlord. It was called LIVEDhllMod. We agreed that he would send it to me on a flash drive in the evening, and in the meantime, I decided to go online and look for it myself so as not to waste time. To my surprise, I only found a couple of broken links. And then, when Fedya (that same friend) brought me the flash drive, I first asked him where he got the modification. He said that it was available for download on a popular file-sharing site, but, to get ahead of myself, I will say that Fedya could not find this file on the internet again, no matter how hard he tried.

I took the flash drive home, and we went for a walk. Fedya said that the mod did not install on his computer due to some problem with the version number. In general, the modification contains changes to textures, a new look for the characters, and about ten new heroes. According to him, there was only one screenshot on that file-sharing site. It showed some kind of demon Overlord, radically different from the previous ones. He had a sword in his hand that was almost as big as he was.

After the walk, I immediately rushed to the computer. On the flash drive was a folder weighing 753 MB. In the folder was a text document, which said: "after end. 1934022 1". This file is still stored on my hard drive. After installation, the game started, but instead of the usual picture with an orc during loading, there was only a black screen. There were no changes in the game menu. I immediately set a medium-sized map and, looking forward to the new features, started playing. I played as the elves against the demons. I did not find any new heroes, but the archers' costumes became bright red, and their faces became sad (yes, exactly sad!).

In 40-50 minutes, I completed the entire map, captured the enemy castle, and killed the enemy hero. By the way, the appearance of all the improved demons, except for the succubi, also changed. So, I cleared the map and went to the enemy castle. I really didn't understand why the game didn't end, because I had killed everyone, so I started browsing the units in the enemy castle. I stared at the demon, it was made so beautifully, it stood on four legs and monotonously shifted its weight from the front to the back and vice versa.

But here's what's interesting: when I turned away to see what my cat was doing, and then returned to the monitor, I was simply stunned for a couple of seconds and fell into a deep stupor! This creature looked at me as if it could see me. In a panic, I exited the castle, calmed down, and went back in. But even after 5 minutes of continuous viewing, the demon stubbornly did not want to look at me. I saved and quit. But then things got worse.

The next day, I went back in, but started a new game on a map that I hadn't noticed before (another feature of the mod). The map was called "hunting the ghost", it can be easily found on third-party sites, I checked. There are 3 players on the map, 1 is hidden, you can only play as demons or dark elves. I successfully started playing as Inferno, but after I attacked the phoenixes in the center of the map, something even stranger happened than before. After destroying the phoenix squad, it did not revive from the ashes, but an image of a circle crossed out appeared in its place. My devils were supposed to move, but then I realized that they could not go anywhere or do anything. I also could not exit to the menu, the task manager did not respond.

After ten minutes of torment, I realized that I could direct the squad to this very symbol, which I did. The devils readily obeyed, but as soon as the squad reached the target, a terrible animation appeared on the screen: a hero of the order stood under some black tree, he had a detached look. Suddenly, that same demon Overlord appeared from behind and cut off his head. But the body remained standing. The animation repeated many times until I was simply kicked out of the game. And only then did I feel a cold sweat on my back. I deleted the game, but... but I found that the text file mentioned above remained on the desktop. Now it looked like this:

after end. 1934022 1
he died becauseofyou
n_ver/killyounow!

Why I keep it until now - I don't know myself. But there is something else. In the save folder, I found two saves from those very games. A month later, I downloaded Heroes again, but the saves stubbornly did not want to be read. There is also a flash drive with that ill-fated mod. The antivirus says that everything is normal, but when I try to install it again, the installer gives an error with the version number. But I don't want to throw it away - after all, it's proof that the mod exists.

And also, N weeks ago, I encountered two similar incidents on the internet. One person claimed that he had downloaded the same mod, but the crash occurred on the Duel of Experts map. And instead of the animation, he had a picture of a hanged gnome on the screen. I could not get in touch with that user. Another case occurred in the game "Battle Monkeys" on Android. The user claimed that in the online game, he jumped onto an unidentified cell with the same icon with a crossed-out circle. He says that after that, his phone died, and that was it.

A huge request to everyone who managed to download this mod on file-sharing sites or elsewhere, please let us know. If you are interested, I can send you the saves - maybe they will work. And also, I noticed this: in the name of the mod LIVEDhllMod, lived can be read backwards as devil.
