Well, the organizers' "sort it out yourselves" stance is inappropriate in this case.

But what position could they possibly have? How can we solve software problems? How can we fix game crashes? Are we developers? Ordering a replay is also not the right approach in this case. The only option was the one suggested – awarding the victory based on the save file. I don't see any other options; if anyone does, I'm open to hearing them.
