On the Ubisoft forum, people are writing a petition asking to postpone the release and finish the game properly. The main problematic issues are balance, gameplay, and, of course, the 8x10 map. Here are quotes from beta testers of the closed beta.C_h_u_c_k_l_e_s
Yep, these guys are right. Ubisoft is a company that wants to make money and wants to show its investors how profitable it is. Which means the end of the fiscal year is a rather important date. And it DOES coincide with the current release date for H5. You beta testers out there, do you really think that this game is ready for the shelves as it is now? Be honest. Given the time left until the current deadline, they've only got a few weeks left to work on the game, to balance the towns/units, to fix the sound scheme, to fix the AI (which you haven't seen...FOR A REASON), to fix the balance of the mage guilds, and many other numerous glitches and balance issues. There's simply not enough time left. So yes, let your voice be heard. There is still time to make a difference and let Heroes V become all it has the potential to become. Don't let it become another Heroes 4.

What if that quarter is actually a fiscal YEAR end? Things start going drastically downhill... and to think, the 8x10 battlefield is STILL a hot debate all over the place... it is in Open Beta. Do you think they have enough time to fix that AND all the bugs? I dont... and I was in closed beta...

Doesn't that depend on what "everything" is? What if there's no working multiplayer? What if the campaigns aren't finished? What if the AI is so broken it's nearly un-playable in SP mode? I have no problem with them releasing a solid workable game that has some of the original features left out for a patch or expansion pack....but as things stand now, it's the BASE of the game that's the problem. If you've got a bulky interface, glitchy sound issues, and a VERY un-impressive AI....then I don't care HOW many patches you send out. That first impression will leave a VERY lasting mark on the consumers. It'll be "stay away from MM franchise and ubisoft"
