Because with the models, the mod weighs about 1 GB, and without them, it weighs much less. The purpose of this separation is that some people download the mod to see the number of heroes, specializations, or just to read the biographies (which are quite interesting, by the way). It's a kind of good practice that can attract a larger audience.
