In the third part, everything was terrible (they had griffins running around the battlefield!), but the design of the demons was somehow especially creepy. In a bad way.
Probably because it required at least some imagination, and that was exactly what was lacking.
These pathetic, lanky, crooked monstrosities reminded me of the monsters from the first Quake. And there, the monsters were scary, but here...
