Oh-oh, summer wine...
White wine 100% from Pinot Grigio grapes, harvest 2015, Italy.
This is truly a very summery wine, as Pinot Grigio should be. Refreshing and light. It has a noticeably tart taste, stronger than other dry wines. The aroma is floral, with subtle notes of honey and… pear? While you have it in your mouth, you don't really feel any particular flavor due to the acidity, but the aftertaste is wonderful. You can sense the aforementioned floral notes, honeyedness, an unidentified fruit, and something else, something very special. Or maybe it’s just the combination of all the flavors I mentioned.
It also gets you surprisingly and unexpectedly drunk. I was very surprised when I started feeling the effects after a couple of glasses. I looked at the label, and there were monstrous 13.5%. You wouldn't guess that from the taste! And that's good.
They recommend serving it with fish or pasta, but I strongly disagree. With this kind of wine, no heavy or even "medium" food will do. Only the lightest snacks: fruits (apples would probably be good) or berries. And absolutely no chocolate bars, which are beloved by women; they will completely drown out the delicate flavor, and then you'll only taste chocolate in your mouth, not wine. Cheeses are unlikely to pair well either; save them for red wine. It's best to skip appetizers altogether. However, I follow this rule regarding almost any exquisite alcohol, from whiskey to wine, and maybe even craft beer (well, you can have some toast with it, but only homemade ones that you fried yourself in a pan).
Overall – 8.5/10
