In my opinion, the problem lies here: Nival created a new universe and new lore, but, as I understand it, due to the popularity of Heroes 3, they crammed a number of elements/concepts/canons (underline the appropriate one) from Heroes 3 into it. The lore in Heroes 5 is poorly developed; the developers of Heroes 6 fleshed out and adjusted this lore to create something more independent, which led to the inconsistency between the lore of Heroes 5 and Heroes 6/7. Nival started the confusion (they shouldn't have used elements from Heroes 3 while creating a completely new universe – or at least they should have integrated these elements more carefully into the new universe), and the developers of Heroes 6/7 continued the confusion (they could have carefully aligned everything with the lore of Heroes 5, but instead, they went in a different direction from Heroes 5, which is itself partially contradictory).
