This isn't the first time I've seen statements like this, and they surprise me somewhat. The current version is complete and playable. If you are interested in Heroes and HoTA, play it. If you get tired of it, take a break or stop playing. Of course, a new version might rekindle interest, but Heroes isn't a game that should rely solely on constant updates and people's desire for novelty.
Let's not pretend.
Some things about the new features in 1.5 have already been announced, and only the most short-sighted potential HoTA player wouldn't have noticed the template editor and all the variety that this program could unlock for all types of players. No, but you can say that 1.5 won't just be about the template editor. But I'll say objectively: bells and whistles like hero figures in combat aren't what most people are waiting for. There aren't that many aesthetes who, for some reason, would play a turn-based strategy game, especially one that's 17 years old. So, the main thing your community is waiting for is the template editor, so that they can finally try many of the things that couldn't be done without a lot of clumsy workarounds before.
To complete the picture, you can do the following. You say: play what you have now, because it's already playable and stable. I don't disagree – in many ways, that's true. However, there's a "but." You've already whetted people's appetites with announcements and statements about an upcoming release, etc. Now imagine that you invited guests to a lavish dinner, describing exotic dishes as the "highlight" of the event. The guests gather at the table, anticipating exquisite food, and you put a bowl of plain pasta in front of them, saying that they should be happy with that, and the desired dishes will be available sometime next time. For me personally, that's almost the same thing.
I'm waiting for the template editor, as are many of my friends. We want to play what we've already envisioned in our minds, and constantly getting used to new game models isn't something that everyone enjoys. And any changes to the balance, which will definitely be in 1.5 when it finally comes out, can change the game model.
