Well, for some, they might be unfamiliar, which makes it more challenging. For me, it has always been quite a hassle to compare different versions/variants of mods that affect the same change. Usually, the differences are minimal, and some bug might not be immediately noticeable and only surface unexpectedly. Sometimes, it all depends on your hardware. For example, a mod that redesigns the battle screen initially messed everything up for me. I had to go through several versions of similar mods before I finally found one that worked with my screen size (at that time, I was just learning about mods and didn't really know what was what).
