I am, of course, exaggerating, but I have long been saying that the trend should be towards reducing the time per turn, not increasing it. Ideally, a game should last not 10+ hours, but 2-3. However, it should be acknowledged that a short timer requires a certain level of dedication, and you can't just "jump in" and play well right away.
