Here's what contradicts this:

This guard needs 9999 liches, which still need to be gathered, and not in a single day...

You probably can't fly over water objects. Either water, or objects, but not both at once. But that's just my guess.

Liches are easy to gather on this map; after Cloak of the Undead King the game becomes not easy, but ultra-easy.
