It's quite simple: don't play against the AI. :)
In no strategy game can the AI be a worthy opponent. With the possible exception of classic games like chess, where the AI has been developed for decades.

I completely agree, but when playing through campaigns and single-player story maps, you'll inevitably encounter the AI's lack of intelligence (although scripts, often used in single-player games, help to alleviate the situation).
