Kotosov can only perform well in the arena, again due to removals. As for spending evolutions on a unit buff with Clash, I'm not sure; it's better to spend them on +2 attack or a really cool effect, like 4-5 evolved units such as EPM, Finny, Dragoon, or even the Wardrobe Lady (the last two can eliminate two enemy units at once).
