Simultaneous turn in a turn-based strategy game.

Is it possible to create an online hub (OH) similar to the Heroes of Might and Magic Online (HOTO)? Instead of rewriting the game from scratch for the online hub, could it be done in a similar way? What is the difficulty? Is it related to resolving technical issues?
