The year is 969. The Griffin Empire is preparing for a joyous event - the wedding of King Nicholas and Lady Isabelle. But even on such bright days, the grim reality of Ashan intrudes. On the southern borders of the Empire, necromancers are becoming active. An army of undead led by Naadir unsuccessfully storms the border town of Castelcross, while nearby villages die out from the plague spread by the undead, replenishing the countless hordes of the dead. Archbishop Randall summons Alaric, the chief inquisitor of the city of Holyflame, to deal with the situation.
