Topic icons and highlighting
Topic lists mark what you have not seen yet. This page explains how the forum decides what counts as new, and what every marker means.
What counts as new
The forum remembers when your previous visit began. A topic whose latest post arrived after that moment is shown as new. Opening a topic clears that topic alone — everything else keeps its state until, after a pause long enough, a new visit begins.
A new visit begins after 15 minutes away. Reading one page for an hour clears nothing: the marker stays where the visit began.
This works while signed out, too. Visitors without an account keep the marker in their browser, so guests see the same highlighting members do.
Topic status icons
The folder icon at the left of each row combines up to four independent marks:
|
No unread posts. |
|
Has unread posts. |
|
You have posted in the topic. |
|
You have posted in the topic, and it has unread posts. |
|
A popular topic — 60 or more replies, or 10000 or more views. |
|
The topic is closed to new replies. A closed topic can still have posts you have not read. |
The marks combine freely — one icon can carry all four at once, sixteen variants in all.
On the forums home
Each game card shows when the game was last active: a coloured dot beside its title, and the time of the latest post below. The dot describes the forum, not you — it looks the same for every visitor and does not track what you have read. The personal marks this page describes live on the topic lists.
| Something was posted in this game within the last 24 hours. | |
| The latest post is one to seven days old. |
Bold and dimmed titles
The title carries the same information without the icon: a topic with unread posts stays bold, one you are caught up on drops to a quieter, dimmed style. On a first visit, when nothing is known yet, every title keeps its ordinary weight. Heroes III Heroes III
Jump to the first unread post
The arrow beside the last post's time leads straight to the first post you have not seen — no scrolling through pages you have already read.
Mark everything as read
“Mark all forums read” moves your marker to the present moment: every existing topic becomes read, and only posts arriving from now on count as new. Signed out, the button clears the same marker in this browser.
