Good day to everyone!!!
On this warm and sunny July day, I once again went to check the results and information for the Favorites, Into Battle!- 6 tournament.
A thought occurred to me: why do we know so little about our champion??
Following the traditions of this thread, I wanted to get to know our hero through an interview... please welcome- Pit for LM!

Gomunguls:
Hello, Pit! For my part, I want to say that I am glad you agreed to the interview, as I think most forum members have long been interested in many questions about such a—I dare say—legendary player as Pit for LM!!!

Pit:
Hi, Vitaly! I'll be happy to answer!

Gomunguls :
Well, let's go!) Please tell us, how did you get introduced to the heroes and how long ago? How did it all start?

Pit:
A PC appeared in our family in the late 90s. Back then I played King's Bounty a lot. A bit later, from one of the compilations, I managed to install the first heroes. At first, I didn't quite understand how to play; I even had to uninstall it once because I couldn't find the "end turn" button. But eventually, I figured it out, and I liked the game very much. Later, in another compilation, I found the second part, which turned out to be even more interesting. And then I started playing the third one almost as soon as it appeared. Back then we often played hot seat with friends, but we were terrible noobs. They all loved building up the capitol, and I would quickly come and kill them :-)

Gomunguls:
Yes, we made many interesting discoveries in the 90s)... Several parts of Heroes were released! Did you play any others?

Pit :
I played the 4th, but it just didn't click at all. I played the 5th more, but for some reason, the campaign didn't work out for me then, and in general, I returned to the third one. It felt more familiar and interesting there. And I've never even seen the 6th once :-)

Gomunguls:
As far as I know, the 3rd part enjoys the most interest among fans of Heroes of Might and Magic, despite the new graphics and other effects in newer parts. Why do you think it hooks people so much? What is the secret ingredient?

Pit:
Well, for me, graphics don't play a special role. The 3rd one is drawn quite beautifully and causes no inconvenience. And the fact that the game is old is even better, because it doesn't lag at all :-). In the 3rd, perhaps, there is the most balanced and interesting combat system. In newer ones, for instance, you can't really mess around with a single neutral fairy... The 4th part was probably unsuccessful due to the ability to move without heroes, the participation and very possible death of a hero in battle, and the inability to build chains. In the 5th, I don't particularly like the initiative line. And square tiles on the battlefield are just hideous :-). So it turns out that for me, the main advantage of the 3rd part is precisely the richer tactical battles.

Gomunguls:
That's true, the battles here really turn out very interesting! and in the 4th, I think even the main hero can perish in battle =)... When you came to the forum, how did you find out about it? What were your first impressions of the forum and its members?

Pit :
When I got unlimited internet, I thought that maybe I could play with other people through it... What to play was obvious—the third heroes. So I started searching on Google, and our forum came up as the first link. That's where I went. My first impression was that, as it turns out, there are some game rules. And there are a ton of them! I really didn't like that at first. My first opponent was Colorado, from whom I learned that you can actually build chains! And taking archers into the Dragon Utopia is the worst thing to do! After this same-sided slaughter without a chance, I started looking for players at the very bottom of the rating. And already in the second game, I managed to beat Leader1!

Gomunguls:
You were lucky) I remember in one of my first games on the forum, Leader1 beat me with only dendroids!...

Gomunguls:
How did you choose your nickname? What does it mean?

Pit :
During registration, I entered the standard Pit. The forum told me that this nick was taken. I randomly entered something like Pit124. To my surprise, I saw that it was also taken... At that time, I started getting into Celtic music. And I really liked (and still like) Loreena McKennitt. I decided that "Pit in sake of LM" surely wouldn't be taken. It went through.... :-) Then it turned out there was a mistake, and I decided to rename myself to something shorter and correct: Pit for LM.

Pit:
She used to be on my avatar all the time

Gomunguls :
Wow! Original!!!

Gomunguls:
You have a lot of victories on the forum and in real Competitive events! Which victory is most memorable? What did you feel at the deciding moment?

Pit:
Hmm... It's hard to pick one specific tournament... Perhaps the last Favorites and M200 with Alex were the most memorable. The most important, probably, were the victories in inter-portal matches. In the deciding moments, I usually felt fatigue and huge relief that it was finally over. There was no strength left for joy.

Gomunguls :
Yes, the last Favorites went great! Second time as the best Conflux player—that's cool! What is the secret to your achievements and success? Is there some strategy and tactic against a specific opponent, or do you always play positionally?

Pit :
I don't have any special tactics for different opponents. Except if the opponent is a complete noob, then I try to finish as quickly as possible. However, I love to rush and kill the opp immediately if I feel even some advantage. And this often brings success; very many games were won precisely because I arrived at a very bad time. One turn later—and it would have been a slaughter without a chance.
Naturally, I play according to the distribution and try to use all the bonuses that the map provides. The secret of success is in correctly identifying the objects necessary to take, doing this as quickly as possible (often with secondary heroes), and then killing the opp using the resulting—albeit minimal and local—advantage.

Gomunguls :
Yes, judging by the number of awards, you arrived at a bad time many times))...

Gomunguls :
Everything is clear with the online part, but tell me about yourself in real life? I know a few of your interests—football, numismatics, playing the harp, traveling, heroes of course)), but what else do you like?? What are you into in life?

Pit :
And I also like mushrooms. And photographing them. I have a whole collection... It's very cool to gather a basket of grey-pink fly agarics (a good edible mushroom that for some reason everyone is very afraid of) and walk through the forest with it! Or trudge in winter knee-deep in snow with a basket of winter honey mushrooms....
I also love photographing all kinds of churches and castles in different cities and countries.

Gomunguls :
Do you like to photograph in all seasons or some more than others?

Pit :
In any season, you can find something very picturesque. True, mushrooms grow poorly in winter, and there are almost none at the end of spring-beginning of summer either...
But there are other objects for shooting...

Gomunguls :
Most of your interests are related to art, searching for something new, interesting, beautiful... if we return to our topic, do you think there is a place for art in heroes?

Pit :
Every game is a little fairy tale. And we write its plot ourselves. Tragedy neighbors triumph, absurd mistakes neighbor happy accidents, tiny fairies neighbor huge evil dragons... I don't like it when players call their valiant troops "meat"...

Gomunguls :
That's true, in some important games everyone works so hard that even the simple heroes we are used to—whom we sometimes call losers—you don't want to call that way)

Gomunguls:
Please tell me, right now, when it seems all goals have been achieved and the main tournaments won, do you still have any goals in heroes? Is there something that, let's say, maintains your interest in them?

Pit :
You and I need to win a 2x2. Also, I'd like to wait for mirror templates for SoD and try my strength on them...

Gomunguls:
That's true)

Gomunguls:
So, I have one last question)

Gomunguls:
Now playing heroes has become more interesting and pleasant than before; there are streams, mods, and other useful things, you don't have to manually separate the ones))... and still, what do you think—is there anything else that the hero world is lacking?

Pit:
If we're talking about the game, my most heartfelt desire is mirror templates. And if we're talking about the community of heroes players—I often feel a lack of kindness and willingness to meet each other halfway on the forum. Too many unnecessary quarrels over trifles.

Pit:
It lacks nobility.

Gomunguls :
Mirror templates would certainly bring additional variety to the game, but as for nobility... that's much harder)

Gomunguls:
Pit, thank you for the fascinating conversation! I want to congratulate you once again on your successes!!! Keep it up!

Gomunguls:
And we definitely have to carry that 2 on 2)

Pit:
Thank you too! It was interesting to think about your questions. In a sense, to summarize the intermediate results
Удача любит подготовленных!!!
