I wrote this and thought it reminded me of the plot setup for a BioWare game, where the main character would be in the place of the NPC.

And that's a good plan, indeed.

These guys are shady, they don't answer questions, maybe they're cultists.

I can't kill without proof; I'm not some kind of bandit...
And since there were people impaled on stakes, it seems that not only cultists come here, so there's a chance they might be peaceful.

In Revanomir, all NPCs react aggressively by default, even to normal questions, lol.
