Alaina
-- Stop whining, you fat slob,-- Alaina growled through gritted teeth, dragging the hefty Hysteo across the filthy alleys of that part of Limisklava known as the Lower City. The Hysteo moaned and begged to be released. He might as well have been pleading with his mother. Truly a worthy son of the "great warriors" nation.
-- Well, we're almost there... And here is my haven!
It was dirty; rats scurried everywhere; the ground was soaked in blood. No sane person would come to this place willingly – an abandoned dead end on one of the streets of the lower city, where the vampire lived.
-- Here, lie down,-- Alaina placed the portly man on a makeshift stone altar.--Are you still listening, handsome? Yes… Do you know what I’m going to do now? I will free your soul from being trapped in this cage of flesh. You believe in the immortality of the soul, don't you? It will hurt a little, or maybe it will hurt a lot...
Alaina raised her knife, and suddenly she was hit by a disgusting smell of excrement.
-- Your life is crap, so you will die in crap,-- the vampire slashed the Hysteo's carotid artery and held out a bowl for the blood. When the bowl was full, she drank its contents with pleasure. But the ritual was not yet complete.
-- Blood God, accept my sacrifice!--with these words, Alaina cut herself with a knife on her arm. A crimson stream flowed onto the ground. After about ten seconds, the bleeding stopped, and Alaina felt the blessing of the Blood God descend upon her. Yes, moments like these are worth living for...
Alaina lay near the fire, watching a flock of crows that had flown in attracted by the scent of blood, and thought about her difficult fate.
All her life, she had been on the run; there was no place she could call home. She barely remembered the early years of her life; besides, she didn’t remember anything that happened to her before two or three months ago. The rest of the memories were shrouded in a bloody haze.
She didn't even know if there were others like her in the world. Those who feel the same Hunger, which obscures thoughts with a bloody veil and drives them crazy. She didn't know, nor did it interest her. All she wanted was to survive. Throughout Alaina's life, it was the fear of death that drove her forward.
Not so long ago, she experienced another new fear – the fear of losing her freedom. Several weeks ago, people found her. They stunned her, tied her up, and put her in a narrow wooden structure called a "cage." They managed to capture her, but they couldn't hold her. Alaina woke up already outside this city. It loomed on the horizon, and above it hung a thick cloud of black smoke for some reason.
She ran further. She reached another city and is now hiding there. Here it was good; there was plenty of food, and no one bothered her. But Alaina knew: she couldn't stay here for long. They would find her. Sooner or later. They will find her and then lock her in a "cage". She had to keep moving.

Alaina woke up early. Rats still scurried around, and near the boxes lay the crow-picked corpse.
"I should throw it away before it starts to stink,"-- thought the vampire.
She dismembered the body, stuffed it into a bag, threw stones into it, and headed towards the coast. Alaina must have looked strange: a pale woman of indeterminate age in rags, with blood smeared on her face and a dagger tied to her belt, walking down the street, dragging a huge bag behind her.
She dumped the corpse into the sea and skeptically looked at her reflection in the water. She needed to wash...
-- Got you, damn succubus!-- Alaina felt someone grab her hair,--Hey guys, look!
The vampire broke free from the Hysteo’s grip, quickly drew her dagger, and struck the man in the neck. A crimson fountain shot upwards; the Hysteo's head fell to her feet.
"That was awkward. It's time to get out of this snake pit,"--her gaze fell on one of the ships in the harbor.--"Even like this."
Alaina dissolved into thin air before the astonished companions of the Hysteo.
Fortunately, there was no one on the deck of the ship. The vampire slipped into the hold and hid there...

A few days laterAlaina was still lying in the hold surrounded by her old friends – rats. She was tormented by unbearable hunger. For several days, the vampire had not drunk human blood, and with each hour, she felt worse and worse. She couldn't endure it for long.

She could barely realize what she was doing. Staggering with weakness, she crawled out of the hold onto the lower deck. The only person who was on deck at that moment was a lieutenant. Without hesitation, Alaina hit him on the head with the pommel of her dagger and sank her teeth into his throat...
The taste of blood refreshingly cleared her mind. She understood that she had betrayed herself and knew that she had nowhere to run. All she could do was hide the paralyzed lieutenant among the boxes and hope to survive this situation.
