We have a thread about Tolkien; we even have a thread about Perumov. Why not create a thread about another pillar of fantasy – the humorous and philosophical fantasy writer T. Pratchett?
I personally really like his books, especially the series about the Night Watch, about Death, and the book from the Rincewind series, "The Last Continent" – it's a real parody of Australians, plus reflections on evolution/the creation of the world...

Terry Pratchett is an amazing author! He has written wonderful books, although I haven't read all of them.

Pratchett is brilliant. I enjoy the entire "Discworld" series. He's also a talented caricaturist.)))

I haven't read it (haven't gotten around to it). The only thing I know of his work is the game Discworld, and I actually liked it...

Haven't played it :( but I've read it... yeah... my favorite author of humorous fantasy is O. Gromyko (hiding from the Dracolich...) compared to him, this is an amateur :) Heh-heh-heh... I haven't laughed this much in a long time... but it's English humor...

Yes, his humor is very atypical for fantasy – usually (for example, in Asprin's works), the jokes are of the type "Now let's see what kind of idiot (character's name) we have, and we'll all laugh at him!", while Pratchett's jokes are completely different – they are purely intellectual, often absurd.

It reminds me a bit of the humor of the cult British group Monty Python... I personally really like it (Monty Python, I mean :)). Although this English humor is incredibly specific!:smile44:
