After recently purchasing Heroes III HD on Steam, I was somewhat surprised to find that all the maps (and campaigns) are old.
That is, VERY old, from the very first "The Restoration of Erathia."
This raises the question in the title.
After moving the maps from the 2009 contest into the maps folder, they don't appear in the list.

When attempting to open the file with the editor (HD Heroes), it says:
invalid map file version
File version = 28
Current version = 14

Is it possible to convert files of version 28 to version 14?

The thing is that Heroes HD, which you purchased on Steam, is essentially the same Erathia, just with redrawn graphics. Therefore, maps from later versions will not work on it (due to the presence of many objects added later). Options: 1) Download maps for "The Restoration of Erathia". 2) Take a map editor from a later version and create a random map there for "The Restoration of Erathia" (if you don't have an editor, you can download a standalone version)
