I remember my own experience – it didn’t work either. I had to put one file into the Windows system folder and also add an entry to the registry. After that, it started working.

Hmm... I have several .exe files with "crack" prefixes in the root folder of the game, but I don't remember exactly which one I used to launch it... Plus, there's also a registry file for the gold version. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like it's responsible for preventing the game from requiring the CD.

Hello! Could you please tell me if it's even possible to play Heroes 2 under Windows Home 7? If so, please point me to where I can download and install the game. I've already broken my brain trying to figure it out; I've downloaded all sorts of different versions of Heroes from the internet and tried to install them under DOS, but nothing works.

I'm poking around – as requested – it works with any game from Microsoft. DOSBox (there are many links online) + DOSShell (it's installed, and you specify the path to DOSBox in it). Then, add the game's launch file to DOSShell, and you can run it – it doesn't matter where the game is located, even if it's on drive Z:. Just remember to adjust the game speed: Ctrl + F12 – increase Ctrl + F11 – decrease
