My first game on my first computer... I remember when I got a 586 (not a Pentium yet, but already not a 486), and I don't remember where I got Heroes I from. I was impressed by unicorns, trolls, orcs, and minotaurs. I don't know why. I played it through and through, and now I play new maps for nostalgia, and luckily there are tons of them on the internet.
It’s interesting why everyone started with the second or third game. I, for example, started with King's Bounty! And I was only ... years old. (Don't get me wrong, I'm younger than 20).

Not everyone had computers back then... When did Heroes appear? You could already play it in '94.
played 2, then 3, then only played 1 =) there are few cities, of course =)) and it's bad that monsters disappear after death (in battle), but I like the orcs in the first part more than in the second...

I also had a 486 back then, and I upgraded it to a 586 (by any chance, was it the same computer? ;) )... I remember we used to play so much that I skipped school a couple of times... and then I got two failing grades in the quarter (and that was in 9th grade). ... But I still finished school without any failing grades, and I gained a lot of experience back then... I completed all the campaigns... Richard_I and I played the "Two on the Sea" map about 50 times...
Added 6 minutes later So, I'm one of the few who started with HEROES 1, then HEROES 2 with the expansion, then HEROES 3 with the expansions and all the Chronicles, I didn't really like Heroes 4 (I didn't even complete all the campaigns), now I've completed HEROES 5 and I'll be playing the HoF expansion... ... Sometimes I play HEROES 1-3

And I'm probably not "one of...", but one who started with King's Bounty! If anyone else started with it, let me know!;)
I also started with the first Heroes game. Then came the second, the third with its eight add-ons, and so on, the fourth, and the fifth. But I still love the first one. There's something special about it, something almost fairytale-like. And besides, it was the first game that ran on my first computer, and that's hard to forget.
They're dansing in the shadow like whispers of love just dreaming of plase where they're free as dove. They've never been allowed to love in this cursed cage. It's only the fairy tale they belive.

Uh... I really don't get how this... In all of this, I actually started specifically with the 2nd one, because before that I didn't even have a computer. I also played the first ones.
But when I was gifted the 3rd part, it was something else! I remember playing at a friend's place too. The computer speed was so low that we would click "end turn" and go peel potatoes, then turn again, and drink tea :) Those were the days!
The 3rd part, from my point of view, is a good continuation of the previous ones, but after that, it's all over. :( I express my respect to those people who still play the first and second parts! Not like these fashion and graphics chasers!:smile12:
Why immediately accuse them of only caring about graphics? Maybe people have already completed all the maps? \))))))) Or they want to play a "new" game with new features...
P.S. I remember the first time I saw the second part at a friend's house; I immediately liked it... We played it often... but it lagged on his computer =)))))).... That was a long time ago.
I started with the second game... I played the first and King's Bounty later... So, the second game remains the best, the most nostalgic, from my youth... (along with Elite, Civilization, UFO, Dune, Warcraft, and Wizardry)...
I also started with the second game - for me, this game is the golden mean! And for some reason, I don't really play the third one. And I started playing the first game about 7 years after my first encounter with Heroes. It's a cool game, and the AI is really challenging!
