Can the hinges actually be cut off? And can the crossbar be widened slightly so that it doesn't hang in the air? Or, as an alternative, can it be raised to the protruding beams that stick out a little higher?

well, you can remove the loops, but you can't widen the gates.

Don't widen the gate, but rather the crossbar that hangs in the air between the two pillars. If it's not possible to widen it, can it be raised to the protruding beams so that there is no gap between the crossbar and the pillars?

this isn't a beam, but rather an uncleaned part of the gate that, unfortunately, cannot be extended, but there are a couple of ideas:
1. Take the gate from the un-upgraded Elven Fortress, but there might be problems, and it will have to be recolored.
2. Insert a second model into the gate, possibly raising it or redrawing a hole.

Some problems arise when applying effects to the new gates. The texture starts to flicker. But it's not important; I removed the effects, and it's working fine now. The main thing is that the gates are now there.
