Hello everyone! We invite all those interested to the Heroes 3 championship in Kyiv! Here is some basic information:

HEROES 3: KIEV OPEN CUP 2014



Dates: January 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2014.
(Check-in on January 3 at 12:00 PM. Check-out: January 7 at 12:00 PM)
Location: Kyiv, cottage
Living area of 600 square meters, a large hall with two plasma TVs (one of which will display the main stream), sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables, a bar counter, small tables, and bar stools; 9 bedrooms each with two beds + wardrobe, desk, and armchairs; dressing room, kitchen, several relaxation rooms with sofas; billiard room - Russian billiards; table tennis; 2 toilets and shower; "French courtyard" - for smoking (cozy outdoor corner with several benches); large adjacent territory, parking space for several cars, benches, barbecue.
How to get there:
From Slavutych metro station, take bus number 452 or 64 to the final stop. Ride approximately 10 stops and get off at "Arsenal Recreation Center" (this information is from Google and Yandex maps – as a reference, just tell the driver where to drop you off, or ask the conductor where to get off). Walk forward, on the left side are the second gates before turning onto Sadovaya Street (across the street is Kniazhna Street, it's not accurately marked on the map). Brown gate, sign: Sadovaya St., 2.
Another landmark: there is some kind of unclear city border sign :D, once you cross this "border," you have arrived. This is for those who will be driving.



Expenses:
Tournament fee: 150 UAH (600 rubles)
Accommodation: 200-250 UAH / day (800-1000 rubles). Price for the entire stay (4 days) is 800-1000 UAH (3200-4000 rubles). The final price depends on the number of participants.
Meals: We will be served delicious meals by an invited chef! Three meals a day cost 120 UAH per day + 20 UAH for dishes (400-600 rubles). Total 500 UAH (2000 rubles) for the entire tournament. Menu
TOTAL FOR EVERYTHING: 1650 UAH (6600 rubles). This includes everything to the maximum extent: accommodation, meals, and tournament fees. And all this for 4 days of a full-fledged Heroes holiday!
General organizer expenses: 16000 UAH (64000 rubles) - rent for the house for 4 days; 1000 UAH (4000 rubles) - internet connection. Ideally, this amount should be covered based on the number of participants. I hope you understand :)

Tournament format: Swiss system, 4 rounds.
Game version: SoD 3.2 HD+ latest "verified" version.
Rules: Standard HW
Maps: 2sm4d(3), M200 (Skirmish, 2sm2c, Balance), Diamond, Mini-Nostalgia, Jebus Cross.
Time control: chess clock, blitz.

Congratulations to Vatya on winning the tournament! He will be awarded a cup and a cash prize. The top 3 places will receive commemorative banners. Everyone who scored 3 points will be awarded prizes.
The decision was made to divide the prizes in the following proportion: 1st place - 50%; the remaining half of the prize money was divided equally among 2nd-5th place. Thank you all for participating! :smile12:

The main version will naturally be SoD. With the mutual agreement of both players, it will be possible to play on The Succession Wars, I think, but with a normal blitz timer. This is all still being discussed.

About the cottages:

Over the last couple of days, I've looked into cottage offers in Kyiv. In principle, everything is not as bad as I thought. The only thing is that most are located on the outskirts and often outside Kyiv. This means there is no infrastructure within walking distance. However, there are options within the city. There are many offers, and house sizes and capacities vary accordingly. On average, from 2000 to 4000 грн. (1 buck - 8 грн.; 1000 rubles - 250 грн).

Here is a decent option in my view:

The price is very democratic (2000 грн. per day = 1000 bucks for 4 days), the house is available on the required dates (I requested from 3 to 7 January for 4 days). I spoke briefly with the landlady - there are supermarkets and a banya nearby (there is no banya in the house itself), the internet is good (according to her), 8-10 sleeping spots, up to 20 people should fit comfortably for the game. The landlady likes poker :)
Overall, this is like a first option. In the next few days, I'll go see the house and the area. There are pros and cons accordingly:
+ good price, decent interior imho, internet, 130 meters without the banya - that's a good size, reasonable landlady, there should be some infrastructure
- space may not be enough for everyone who wants to come one way or another - but if it's up to 20 people, it should be fine. The house is simple, without luxuries. No private banya (but there is one nearby within walking distance), relatively on the outskirts of the city.

1 dollar ~ 8 hryvnias.

Beer in a store: from 4 UAH. Decent beer costs around 8 UAH for 0.5 liters.
Draft beer is approximately the same - 1 dollar for 0.5 liters.
Beer in pubs: 15-25 UAH for local beer. 35-50 UAH for trendy imports (Krušovice, Hoegaarden, etc.).
Vodka, cognac - from 40 UAH for 0.5 liters in a store.
Eating in a good cafeteria or having a business lunch in a pub - 40-50 UAH.

If you can't be bothered to walk 50 meters to buy draft beer and order it by taxi, then the question of the cost is irrelevant :D

For those who can't be bothered to walk, I can give you a taxi number, and for 6-7 bucks, they'll take you to the beer and back.

No offense, but after your report about the Siberian championship, the question seems out of place, so I'm withdrawing it :))))

P/S/ Most of the 99% of bases/houses/campsites will be located in such a way that you can't do without a taxi. But in my opinion, it's easier to take a taxi 2-3 times a day than to pay an extra 50-80 bucks a day for a convenient location.
