The funny thing is, I already have the Complete Edition, so I can use it to activate the Complete Edition xD
I bought it specifically to get everything I was missing in one go. However, I'll be activating it for the regular version of the game. Or rather, I'll start the installation and see if it offers to remove the old version, and if it does, then I'll reinstall and activate it...

I personally don't bother with this too much; perhaps there won't even be a need to delete old heroes. I installed the game and the expansion in the same directory on the "D" drive manually, and it's possible that the deletion occurred precisely because of the identical folder names. But I still have all 4 expansions activated in the Heroes menu.
In "skirmish" mode, there are 30 maps, one of which seems to be some kind of gift map, for purchasing the "Gold Edition."

The Rubicon has been crossed. Complete Edition is installed despite the presence of older versions, and all achievements are intact. First of all, the installer does complain about the presence of older versions and their incompatibility. And this is regardless of where they were installed. We agree to delete them, install Complete, and when asked "Delete all settings and user profiles?", we answer "No way!", and that's it, the game is installed. We launch it, update UPlay, unlock the Complete Edition in the game menu, and enjoy it :-)
And Ubisoft's support needs to undergo a thorough review for their poor English and cruel misinformation (>_<).

Hey, how do you activate a pet? Or rather, how do you even choose one? I think I added it to the hero in the dynasty settings, but I understand that's for duels. And when I started a regular battle, both pets were displayed in the hero window, but in gray, and I couldn't select them. Or maybe only Strength heroes can use them?

Before starting the game, you need to allow the use of dynasty perks, and then any hero will be able to take any pet.

I always allow them, because I play with dynasty weapons. Maybe they need to be dragged into some slot?

I tried assigning a pet to the hero through the dynasty, then enabled the dynasty-related bonuses, and it worked (proof number one and two).

In campaigns, pets can only be used strictly according to the plot; random use is not allowed.

No, the maximum is 12 standard heroes.

What, is the forge broken again? At least before it worked after 2-5 tries, but now it doesn't work at all...

The game runs for me, but it won't let me upgrade weapons.
