You play high stakes, but there's nothing to win
After the events of the previous day, a tense silence reigned in the bar, and the alcohol supplies were dwindling at an astonishing rate.
Thorium was particularly successful in this endeavor; after downing five bottles of technical alcohol, he not only didn't lose consciousness but also behaved quite actively, telling everyone in the bar everything he thought about his mother-in-law. Fortunately, there were no children or pregnant women among the patrons, and the rest were used to such outbursts.
An unknown individual in the corner of the bar suddenly stood up and fired several shots at
Alexeagle, who was sitting and talking calmly. Whether
Alexeagle saw something or it was just a coincidence, he happened to lean down for another drink at that moment, and the bullets flew past. The thug, cursing, jumped up, knocked his victim to the floor, and fired several shots at close range. But none of the shots hit their target. Noticing that a crowd was gathering around, the unsuccessful assassin hastily retreated, sending a couple more shots in
Alexeagle's direction as a parting gift (of course, they missed).
Neyra Drake threw a bar stool after the fleeing thug, but accidentally hit one of the patrons, and she had to spend the rest of the night outside.
VesperLindt sat quietly in the corner, counting her winnings for the day. When a figure in the dark separated from the wall, she initially didn't pay attention to it, and only after the strange woman grabbed her by the throat did
VesperLindt finally look at her and snort something like, "You'll get your revenge later; I've already booked a room at a hotel in Los Angeles." Apparently, the assassin had no intention of arguing about the possibility of revenge and simply broke
VesperLindt's neck. As she fell, she gasped her last breath: "You all owe me!" The bar patrons were alarmed and wanted to catch the villain, but she disappeared as silently as she had appeared.
And only
Wolfstet had no idea what was going on. She had gone to the ladies' room before midnight to powder her nose. When
Wolfstet closed her powder compact and reached for the handle, she was startled by a noise from the other side of the door. Then there was a knock, the door jammed, and in the ensuing silence, a nasty giggle and muttering in an incomprehensible language could be heard.
Wolfstet was released only in the morning.
