Hello everyone. I saw that people are asking roughly the same thing, but I'll still ask, as I can't find a specific answer. I installed the game, and there were no problems during the installation. When I launch it, I get a black screen and a static cursor. Yesterday, somehow, through compatibility mode, it launched! (for the first time). I tried all the checkboxes and Windows 98, but today I tried all the options, and nothing works.

I agree with the previous user. I have the same problem – the game only starts after the fourth attempt. BUT THIS DOESN'T CHANGE ANYTHING!!! I still can't play online. When using TCP/IP, the game simply freezes, and I can't do anything about it.
P.S.: I tried installing both a cracked version of SoD and the licensed Platinum Edition – it's all the same – a NIGHTMARE with playing online.

I solved this problem by emulating the 3rd disc from Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete Edition using an alcohol emulator, and all versions of the game, including Heroes of Might and Magic, started working immediately.

well, I also think that if the game is launched in safe mode, then maybe some malicious process is running, so as an option, you could clean up Windows.

Is this for me? There are no messages about a missing disc; the game simply doesn't want to start (like most games released in 2011-2012).

you can also (if you have sp2) update to sp3 through the Windows Update center; this will restore some damaged Windows files, which can cause games not to launch. This helped me in the past.

I'm playing with a friend through Hamachi in Armageddon's Blade, and everything is fine, but when a battle starts in any castle, on turn 4-6, the catapult, which should be able to move, doesn't activate, and nothing happens... neither of us can move or cast spells, and it seems like everything is working, but it's not.
