I didn't really follow the argument, but I have my own opinion on this. If, in a battle, to achieve the best result, you need to make 1000 moves and spend 100 hours, then you should do it. If we have 1 harpy and the opponent has 100 golems, it doesn't mean we should give up to save time.
And if we have archers, they should shoot - that's logical :)

I understand that mages would defeat everyone, just slowly; with their approach to the game, Ihtiandr has long been known - "I only play for fun" and "there is nothing to play here, I'm leaving," I personally vowed never to play funky again with him, but why does he, without following his code of enjoying the game, participate in tournaments...
