Posts from HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
Quite the opposite! The goal was to make SoD playable on any template, including HL+U. In this campaign, both Tiamath and Wulm ended up on one-sided maps in games against me, which led to them being immediately discarded as unusable templates in subsequent games.
Andrey, I completely agree with you. One-sided maps are bad and no one wants to play with them. However, we did play with chaos rules at some point. It's understandable that you quickly get used to good things, so once one-sided maps are introduced, we'll come to the conclusion that restructuring the GM is also essential (which it is, in my opinion), and then we'll realize that necromancy is evil, and then we'll need troop experience and DD will move to water :) Personally, I believe that restructuring the GM is the most important factor, even more important than necromancy and monoliths. However, I've come to the conclusion that for playing on HL templates, there is VT, and the rest can be played quite well on SoD.
Sorry, I've been meaning to ask: aren't monoliths a problem with the game itself or the HD mod, rather than specific templates? I'm not sure: is it clearly stated that the monoliths will be one-sided? And how can this be fixed: by replacing the one-sided monoliths with two-sided ones? But there are only 8 of them in SoD, and it's impossible to add more without reworking the game itself! I remember that in WoG, they added a 9th monolith.

Here, the discussion is about making one-sided monoliths function as two-sided ones for both entry and exit, but without changing their appearance. This is already implemented in WoG.
it will definitely get worse! And it will get worse because you will have to negotiate and argue with opponents one more time.
Apparently, you don't have much experience playing on the most balanced templates, that's why you are so persistent:) You can read a lot of discussions and all sorts of nonsense in the Warlords chat, but I haven't seen any arguments about settings even once.
However, I came to the conclusion that there is a build-your-own template (BYOT) for playing on HL templates, and the rest can be played quite well on SOD.
Kostya, this is acceptable for universal players (BYOT+SOD). But what about SOD players who want to play HL+U templates? After all, in BYOT, in addition to the optional ones, there are many other differences made in search of balance, and I cannot impose them on a SOD player, along with the optional improvements.
And if it comes to international tournaments, where everyone plays SOD, then in such high-level tournaments, we simply cripple the normal game on HL+U templates, which by their nature are played in such a way that there is more room for skill and less for the random number generator.
Regarding the development of the appetite for desires in the process, I completely agree with you, but I think the teleport problem can be compared to a bug, and for this reason it should be fixed optionally. The question is, is this technically possible? - because maybe we are just wasting our time with this debate.
if necessary or according to the rules, some objects can be removed from the game.
Wic with this sign.
For example, a cartographer: it is forbidden to visit him according to the rules, so he is not created on the map.
You can also do this with one-sided units.
It seems you don't have much experience playing on the most balanced maps, which is why you're so insistent on this.
I don't have much gaming experience in general. And I'm being insistent because I disagree with the policy: "If people aren't playing with War of the Titans, let's make War of the Titans out of Heroes of Doom and attach it to the Stronghold map." Master_A
You could also do the same with one-way connections.
What would you use to replace the connections between zones? One-way connections come into play when two-way connections run out. When one-way connections run out, two-way connections go through a second cycle. If you remove one-way connections from the game, there will be many two-way connections that will become 4-6-8-way connections. This will destroy the entire structure of the map, so this option is unacceptable.

I'll quote again)))
There are rules for tournaments, and disputes mainly arise before the tournament itself. Here, it depends on the organizer's charisma – whether they can withstand the pressure or give in. During the tournament itself, there are no disputes about the rules in principle. But if 2 people cannot agree on the rules for a fun game, then this is more likely their problem; they probably don't have enough desire to find a compromise.
It wouldn't hurt to occasionally go back to page 1 and read the first post, and preferably at least the first 2 lines:
A mod to improve the functional aspects of the interface of our beloved game, Heroes of Might and Magic 3. The original gameplay of the game is absolutely untouched.
I also advise you to read the website of the mod creator; it is clearly stated there:
HoMM 3 HD is an interface mod, meaning it does not affect the original gameplay of the game, but improves the interface; its functional part, not the cosmetic one. All minor graphical changes have been made while preserving the original style.
How many times do you need to misunderstand the simple truth that a mod is not a platform for introducing "new options" that change the gameplay:confused:

+1! If you don't want people who only play one way, play your own version and that's it... but don't ruin the original! (I'm talking about the gameplay)

I disagree, one-sided maps disrupt the game balance just as much as some kind of block that forces a restart. An extra option really won't make things worse for anyone. Maybe a restart would be enough if there are these one-sided maps, but from my own games, I know that they can be placed either right at the exit of the spawn point or a little further away. And I want to play HL templates in SOD as well.
Message from Vinceras: I disagree; one-way teleports disrupt the game balance no less than some block that forces a restart. An extra checkbox really won't make things worse for anyone. What specifically do you disagree with? That SoD isn't as desired, or that the MOD author doesn't change the gameplay? And who said that balance in the form some people want to see should even exist at all?
When the game itself was created, it was specifically designed to include luck, morale, random distribution of various artifacts, and a random damage spread for most units; basically everything is random or based on counter-attacks (spells, special abilities, mages and warriors). In the game author's understanding, this didn't imply that whoever runs 100 meters faster in identical sneakers wins. Message fromMedium_HP: Nonsense; that's like if you could put laundry into a washing machine but couldn't take it out, by analogy with one-way teleports. It is just as much nonsense to exit a supermarket through the entrance gates, if you are comparing a washing machine (knowing that laundry can be taken out of it) to teleports. It is nonsense when you compare black holes and white ones, ONE-WAY teleports and TWO-WAY ones. They are called opposites precisely because they function oppositely.

Nonsense, it's like putting laundry in a washing machine and not being able to take it out, similar to one-way effects.
Just like trying to take whole fruits out of a juicer :) There are reversible processes, and there are irreversible ones. Javdet
)))) 2 Dirty - 0 constructive input in your posts ;) and you're being argued with by people who know a thing or two about good templates;)
You have just as little constructive input. Everyone knows and understands the advantages of the Warlock's features, but people are against forcing them into the mod, and I support them in this. Reasoning like you do (and who would be harmed if we just put everything on checkboxes?) can lead to absurdity, like, why not have level 2 from the start and 3 stacks? And why not remove necromancy? etc.
Added 1 minute ago R55Max, you're not talking about the same thing. We're not talking about implementing it in HD, but implementing it in the tournament module. It was created specifically for changing the gameplay.baratorch
Well, if you don't like the display of movement points, the inability to peek, password-protected saves, the inability to sell artifacts at an inflated price, hiring only pikemen in camps, protection against map glitches (the appearance of split heroes, gray cities, heroes controlled by multiple players), a quick start with the desired RMG configuration, road customization, then you can always disable the Tournament module and play your favorite SoD, but with an expanded interface (which will be more convenient than SoD with a lighter in any case).
It's nonsense to compare black holes and white holes, or one-way teleporters with two-way teleporters. They are called opposites precisely because they act in opposite ways.
Exactly. If the map creator wants players to be able to enter but not exit, they use a one-way teleporter. But we're talking about online games on random maps, where the generator tries to simulate a two-way teleporter using two pairs of one-way teleporters, and the result is nonsense that needs to be fixed.
P.S. I didn't suggest using a washing machine as an analogy; I just corrected that analogy.

R55Max, you're not talking about the right thing. We're not talking about implementing it in HD, but implementing a module in the tournament. It was created specifically to change the gameplay.
I understand that, but I also understand that when talking specifically about the module, you can't separate it from HD, because the module is a branch of HD. There can also be a branch from the module, and its beginning (in the vector that some are trying to impose) will not be "useful" for the MODULE and its current ideology, which is supported by many SOD players.
