At the end, there was almost a mishap – the taxi to the train station got stuck for an hour because a freight train blocked the crossing, so Asm, slightly tipsy, had to drive us along a detour to meet the taxi. But we still made it with 5 minutes to spare before the train departed.

Wasn't it possible to just walk across the railway tracks? For example, using an overhead pedestrian bridge...
Or is this crossing located somewhere else, not on Crystal Street?

There are two crossings – one with a barrier, the other without (about 2-4 kilometers apart if you follow the winding road). There are no pedestrian crossings, of course. We stopped at one, and the other guys got stuck at the other.

That's how you should have crossed the tracks at the station and walked to the trail; it's no more than 2 km away. Or you could wait for a car at the station.
