Guys, I suggest we come up with unique "machines" for the forge for each faction, in addition to the ballista cart and the tent. Then, we'll try to send the best ideas to Nival (who are probably already full of them, but still).
For example:
- Some kind of sphere on a stand that, when aimed at an enemy or ally, casts a random spell (obviously, harmful or beneficial, respectively). (This kind of thing would be more suitable for mages.) Or, you could give one faction a device with positive spells and another with harmful ones.
- Some kind of "hut" or cage from which, at the beginning of the battle, one beast unit emerges with a certain amount of mana, health, etc., and tries to help by fighting on the side.
- Or, for the Necromancers, you could give them a cage with a raging soul that possesses the first fallen unit and revives part of it to their side (preferably at the player's direction).
- And for the Elves, you could give them some kind of bush or super-dendroid that, while remaining behind the battlefield (like all machines), sends out an underground root and grabs one enemy unit from below, preventing it from escaping. Or, the Inferno could do the same, but instead of a root, it would be molten lava under their feet, or just quicksand.
We can come up with a lot more... let's brainstorm!
P.S.: This is one of the two things I didn't forgive and didn't agree with in Heroes 4.
(The other is the turning and removal of tiles on the battlefield. They could have come up with something similar instead of removing them; it certainly wouldn't have saved them from bankruptcy, but...)
P.S.2: In general, let's fantasize.
в жизни всегда бывает хуже чем есть поэтому надо довольствоваться тем что имеешь
It would be nice to add a battering ram! Let it have 500 HP, and it breaks through with one hit, but it's slow...
Not bad, but clarify: will it specifically break through gates, or can it also break through walls? If it can, what about moats and other obstacles in front of the walls?:)
A forward tower for ranged units (only during castle capture).
But what's the difference between a ballista and this? If it were a guy with a ladder, that would be cool, but that's not what I was talking about...

How is it different? The archer climbs onto the tower, draws the bowstring, and fires – 100% visibility, without the tower, the chance of hitting the enemy is 25%.
Hmm, the Steam Gnomes have the coolest selection of units. Catapults that fire grapeshot (small stones) are great against troops, and the armored vehicle acts as a mobile shield, absorbing all ranged damage if units behind it are targeted.
And we also need a kamikaze unit with a mine and a speed of 2 to instantly blow up the gates and one of the wall sections... just like in Lord of the Rings with the Isengard army! ;)
Сила Тьмы - в бессилии света. Нет невежества - есть Знание
I think a bridge is needed when you cross the moat. Otherwise, it's impossible to get to the Elven Castle. They entangle with roots, and all your units die.

I played Battle for Middle-earth 2, and I liked blowing up the walls of "Helm's Deep" with berserkers.:D We don't need kamikaze units in Heroes!
Regarding the moat, the issue has been raised at the right time, comrades. This is some kind of outrage!!! If not a bridge, then at least some kind of decking. Or a unit with fascines.
В общем есть еще причины для оптимизма, как говорил умирающий от ран эльф при виде плывущего по реке трупа орка.
I suggest creating a siege tower that allows units of levels 1-3 to climb over walls. Give it a low movement speed and, say, 500 HP as well (so it won't be destroyed with a single hit).
