But for some reason, I didn't switch channels and watched it until the end. I wouldn't say the movie is amazing, but it's decent. I paid the most attention to the characters. I rarely like villains, very rarely, but here I actually liked them. I liked the final duel, and the English swordsman himself.
And what did it all start with? With the fact that one guy decided to borrow money to help his clan, and in the end, he was defending his honor, but people were dying in the process.

Watching Lexx. Well, I'm almost done watching it; only half of the fourth season is left. It's a great series. It vividly shows what will happen if several people (and not quite people) with varying degrees of mental disorders hijack the most powerful warship, equipped with the latest technology and capable of blowing up planets without much effort. I was very pleased with the combination of trash, absurdity, and sodomy (periodically in the most direct sense) with the concentrated dark, oppressive atmosphere of the series. It's easy to watch and engaging; the main characters, despite (or perhaps because of) their complete lack of brains and a plethora of quirks, are not without charm and evoke sympathy. And there's also excellent music.

Now it's time for Star Trek. The very first one, with Kirk and Spock. I've reached the middle of the second season. The sets and special effects stopped bothering me around the middle of the first episode, and the characters' appearance – somewhere around the tenth episode. The length of the episodes was a bit annoying, although in terms of time, one episode of Star Trek is only slightly longer than one episode of Babylon-5 or Lexx (not counting the first season, of course). Now I'm already used to it. Of course, the series is not without its naivety and cliché plots, but that's not the worst flaw, and it's quite possible to come to terms with it. The characters are quite likable, and there are often interesting situations. The show is not without humor; it's genuinely very funny at times.
Overall, it's definitely for a specific audience, but I think the series is quite good, and you can definitely watch it and enjoy it. A classic, proven by time.

What I liked most was that the filmmakers invested a huge budget, focusing not on spectacle but on authenticity, as if they weren't counting on a wide audience. There's not much dynamism, but it's beautifully and well-shot, with nothing to criticize. And, of course, it was interesting to somehow connect with the history of Scandinavia.
